Management 202: Data organisation




Collected data is often large and scattered. It must be organized to make it more comprehensible. Data is organized by classification and tabulation.

Classification is the process of organizing data into groups according to their common characteristics

The Objects of classification include:

  • To condense the data and make it more comprehensible
  • Facilitate comparisons
  • To understand relationships in the set of data
  • Prepare the data for statistical treatment

Qualitative data is organized into frequency distinction: This is a table of observations and how frequently they occur.
