To think fluidly and generate lots of ideas, here are some suggested principles:
Defer judgment: While generating ideas, critical and judgmental thinking must be suspended. Focus your energy on finding ideas and bouncing your thoughts off others with fluidity and open-mindedness.
Possibility vs. practicality: Try to get as many ideas before even thinking to evaluate, prioritize or judge them. Divide your ideation process in two separate mental operations: possibility thinking (generating ideas) and practically thinking (evaluating ideas).
Quantity: A good idea occurs infrequently, so before evaluating one idea, it is better to have many ideas. In the same way, less creative ideas usually emerge more quickly. To get the best ones, more ideas must be generated first. To do so:
Always set a goal when you brainstorm: 40 ideas or nothing!
Keep a written record to remember your ideas and create connections between them
Use ideas (yours and other people’s) to generate new ones: Build on the other’s ideas by adding detail, by combining them with yours, and by mixing them. This is the best way to be creative.

When it comes to business ideas, it is never rocket science. All you have to do is be a good life student and be a keen observer of your surroundings. Here are three questions that might be well, simple but very profound as far as delving into business is concerned. Look around your environment
- What do you LOVE about it?
- What ANNOYS you about it?
- Now the Elephant in the room; what can you do about it?
Answering the two questions then the third one leaves you with a business idea if you are keen enough. Business ideas tend to come from; PASSIONS, PROBLEMS and TRENDS. And thus further:
- What are your PASSIONS?
- What PROBLEMS do you see around you?
- What are the few TRENDS that you can notice in your locale?
- Is there any connection for the above three?
Trends; Come to think about it, Trends will be interesting and readily noticeable. This might include but not limited to Science, Technology, Market trends, Popular Interests and so on.
Passion happens to be that what you love. Think about places, Activities, Objects and so on. The list is far way longer than this. For instance the places you have gone to recently such as the Amboseli National park. Activities you love doing to mention Hiking. Objects that attract your eyes such as fancy cars
Problems on the other hand are those that annoy you. Most probably you and I don’t like problems because well; they get us out of our comfort zones. Imagine of a full day in traffic, what of a drainage system that keeps overflowing when it rains and the rain itself? Damn bad boring! What of I told you that every business that you see today was set up to solve a problem? Yes Businesses exists to offer solutions. A prevalent problem might just be another business in waiting!
