Studying the bible
The Five Thumb Rule
You have your bible with you, Right? Try lifting it with your small finger alone. How is it? Repeat doing so with the other fingers (second, third, fourth) all the way to the thumb. Do you manage to lift it? Now repeat the process this time around using the small finger supported by the thumb, second finger with the thumb, third finger with the thumb, fourth finger with the thumb. Do you notice something? Now lift the bible with the thumb supported by all the fingers. That was pretty easy right?
Ok you will find out that its impossible lifting the bible with a single finger. However it gets much easier when you lift the bible with say the first finger supported by the thumb and finally pretty easy lifting the bible with your hand supported by all the fingers!
It thus brings us to the five thumb rule as far as studying the word of God is concerned. The Rule dictates in studying the word of God you have to HEAR, READ, STUDY, MEMORIZE and MEDITATE.
Psalms 1; 1-3: God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won’t follow sinners or join in sneering at God. Instead the law of the Lord makes them Happy, and they think about it day and night. They are like trees growing besides a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Those people succeed in everything they do.
Psalms 115; 4: The idols of the nations are made of silver and Gold.
Joshua 1; 8: Long ago I promised the ancestors of Israel that I would give this land to their descendants. So be strong and brave! Be careful to do everything my servant Moses taught you. Never stop reading The Book of The Law he gave you. Day and night you must think about what it says. If you obey it completely, you and Israel will be able to take this land.
Acts17; 11: The people in Berea were much nicer than those in Thessalonica, and they gladly accepted the message. Day after day they studied the scriptures to see if these things were true.
1st John4; 1: Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that he was winning and baptizing more followers than John was.
1st Thessalonians 5; 20-21: Or ignore prophecies. Put everything to test. Accept what is good.

Joshua 3; 9: Joshua spoke to the people: Come here and listen to what the lord our God said he will do!
Samuel 3; 10: The Lord then stood beside Samuel and called out as he had done before “Samuel! Samuel!” “I’m listening,” Samuel answered. “What do you want me to do?”
Nehemiah 8; 8: After this, the levites Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah went among the people explaining the meaning of what Ezra had read.
Acts 27; 28: They measured and found out the water was about 40metres deep. A little later they measured and found it was only about 30metres.

Revelations 1; 3: God will bless everyone who reads this prophecy to others, and he will bless everyone who hears and obeys it. The time is almost here.
Jeremiah 17; 5: I, the lord has put a curse on those who turn from me and trust in human strength.
John 14; 12: I tell you for certain that if you have faith in me, you will do the same things that I am doing. You will do even greater things now that am going back to the father.
Isaiah 6; 1: In the year that king Uzziah died, I had a vision of the Lord. He was on his throne high above, and his throne filled the temple.
Luke 6; 38: If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over to your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.
John 1; 12: Yet some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be children of God.
Hebrews 4; 12: What God has said isn’t only alive and active! It is sharper than any double edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.
Mathew 28; 19-20: Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
